Ritual and Stereotype
“That's always seemed so ridiculous to
me, that people want to be around someone because they're pretty. It's like
picking your breakfast cereals based on color instead of taste.” (John Green,
2013). It is so fiddling that you can find some people main interest is the external
appearance. It is so fiddling that you can find some men want to marry or make
a relationship with a woman just because she is pretty, and it doesn’t matter
if she doesn’t own anything in her personality other than her beauty.
Men whose are running towards the
perfect pretty women, made the beauty as ritual. Men now are looking for the
perfect pretty woman and they did not give the importance of other beautiful
things that can be in the woman, like her educational level, if she is cultured
or not, have a good or bad personality, and all they care about is her external
beauty, and they put a standards for that beauty, like you can observe that
most, if not all, the men now like the women with big chest, curved waist,
small nose, and huge lips, and then women considered that they should have all
these standards to be accepted by men.
And now, because of these rituals
which made by the men, all girls and women now are running towards the plastic
surgeries to have the perfect body and facial shape based on the standards
which the men put, like what Valeria Lukyanova a 21 years old girl did when she
transferred herself to a real life Barbie doll, to have the perfect look which
Barbie have in her body and face, and hundreds of girls and women whom resort
to the plastic surgeries to get the perfect look to be surrounded by men. (Patricia,
2012).
Some of these women was having a good
luck in their surgeries, and been successful at the end and have been beauty
like what they want, and others became beasts, like Jocelyn Wildenstein, a
wealthy women and an ex-wife to an art billionaire dealer. Jocelyn Wildenstein
has paid $4,000,000 in plastic surgery to look pretty, and you can observe that
before these surgeries she was already beautiful, but after the surgeries, you
can say that the beauty becomes the beast. (Starcasm staff, 2009).
In May
20, 2011, Jocelyn Wildenstein had done some surgeries in trying to look more
accepted and more human after they call her the cat woman. (Starcasm staff,
2011).
Perfect standards of beauty, made women
resort to stereotyping themselves. All the beauty standards which men like to
see in women, made all women to be looked in one shape, all women now want to
have a curved waist, small shaped nose, huge lips, and wide chest, and that
made women put themselves in the stereotypes of the beauty standards, and you
can feel now that all women and girls whom did these plastic surgeries to get
these standards, are look the same. But beauty is not only the external
appearance, if you feel inside yourself that you are beautiful, you will be
beautiful.
“For Attractive lips,
speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek
out the good in people.
For a slim figure,
share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let
a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with
the knowledge that you never walk alone.” (Sam Levenson, 2013).
